ROMAN KEYCARD BLACKWOOD
Slam Bidding for the 21st Century
by Eddie Kantar

ADDENDUM:

Clarifying thoughts that might have been made clearer in the book.

1430 or 3014:

If responder uses RKB it is a 1430 ask unless opener has jumped or reversed. However, a jump doesn't count as a jump if opener has previously made a minimum limiting rebid.

Opener Responder
1H        1S
2H        3C
4H        4NT? (1430) Opener is KNOWN to be minimum given the 2H rebid, therefore, the jump doesn't change anything.

Opener Responder
1H        1S
2C        2D
3H        4NT ( 3014) The 2C rebid is considered unlimited and it has been followed by a jump.

Meanings of 5NT as related to this book:

After major suit agreement:
4NT followed by 5NT is the Specific King Ask. If the RKB bidder bids 5NT after a king showing response to a queen-ask, 5NT remains a Specific King Ask.

After minor suit agreement
(1) If the RKB bidder bids 5NT after the response to RKB, it is a grand slam try looking for extras. It is not a Specific King Ask.
(2) If the RKB bidder bids 5NT after a king showing response to a queen-ask it is a Specific King Ask

In two level non-agreement sequences, a direct RKB ask only can be used to ask for keycards in the last bid minor, not the first. 1D-1H 2C-4D 4D is RKB for clubs. To ask in diamonds, responder must first agree diamonds.
